Light A Candle Foundation

Light a Candle has produced and presented three major health education films. These films rest at the core of LAC's mission to provide culturally sensitive health messages for Dominicans, by Dominicans. In order to better meet the needs Kreyol-speaking bateys, two of the films have been translated into Haitian Kreyol.

The pilot film, “Light A Candle/Enciende Una Luz/Limon Yon Bouji” is based on UNICEF’s Facts for Life chapters on safe motherhood and appropriate spacing of births. The second film, “You Decide/Tu Decides/Se Ou Menm Ki Responsab” relates to the ABC’s (Abstinence, Be Faithful, Condoms) in prevention of HIV/AIDS, other STDs and teenage pregnancy. The third film, “Decisions: Yes or No/Decisiones: Si o No” focuses on teenage pregnancy prevention and healthy relationship choices.
